Illinois Author “Visits” Eastlawn

This year in the library, we are celebrating Illinois authors. Jacob Grant is an author and illustrator of picture books, who lives in Chicago. On September 25th, Mr. Grant Skyped with the Eastlawn kindergarten and first-grade students. He read his titles Little Birds Bad Word, Through with the Zoo, and Bear’s Scare. He also demonstrated his illustration techniques (including a football-playing spider). There was even time for some student questions, where we learned Mr. Grant had goats and a pet hamster growing up. We got to see a little of his workspace, including early drawings from his books. Lastly, he talked a little about the book he illustrated that will be out in December– Owls are Good at Keeping Secrets. His books will definitely be flying off our library shelves soon!
